LAST CU MTG of 08

Ok,here's another really really late post. Our last CU mtg of 08...*sobs*.If I'm nt wrong the meeting was on the 24th of October. As usual, praise and worship, followed by a round of games and then makan!I realised as I remember the things we do in CU,is tht its nt abt how chun or how interesting the game or whatever programme tht we are having is but it is abt the us,the ppl and how we respond to it(the programme).I remembered tht the games we had tht day were games tht we had played before, nothing new but yet we all had a good time. So,the next time you have a game or a programme tht you've had before, dont go 'oh,again?' but think of ways where you can improve on tht certain programme=)

Day Of Prayer 2008

Hey guys!sry for the delay in posting this...

Aight, the Day of Prayer event happened about 3 weeks ago on the 27th of Sept 2008 in La Salle Klg.About 60 plus students came frm all over Klang to pray mostly concentrating on the end yr,PMR,SPM & STPM exams.
We were blessed to hv Ps Gurmit to come preach to us and I can say tht the event wasn't just about praying for each other but we also received alot of encouragement in return
One thing I learnt was tht trust is of utmost importance especially when the exams are so so so near,no matter how much studying (or the lack of) tht we may put in,we still tend to get the jitters as we step into the exam hall and open the question papers for the first time. When I think of tht,I always rmbr wht Matt 10 says abt trusting in Him ...
'What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it.And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows'
Rest assured tht we are way more valuable tht some little sparrows. So dont worry too much, stop counting down the days, study if u've yet to do so and TRUST in Him!

'May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit' (Romans 15:13)

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not flunk
He keepeth me from lying down when I should be studying
He leadeth me beside the water cooler for a study break
He restores my faith in study guides
He leads me to better study habits,For my grades' sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of borderline grades
I will not have a nervous breakdown,For thou art with me
My prayers and my friends, they comfort me
Thou givest me the answer in moments of blankness
Thou anointest my head with understanding
My test paper runneth over with questions I recognise.
Surely passing grades and flying colours shall follow me
All the days of my examinations
And I shall not have to dwell in this exam hall forever. - Author Unknown

Getting back to the event, about ...hmm,let me see...Pei Ern,Joshua,Pei Ling,Alexis,Daniel,Jerry...(I hope Im nt missing anyone out),I think abt 6 or 7 of us ACSians went for the event.I knw tht many of the mbrs wanted to go bt bcos of exams and tight schedules,nt many was able to make it.Hopefully we could all go next yr ya?haha.
We started out with PnW lead by none other than our very own President,Mr Daniel Ng Yee Lee,haha. Then it was on to the preaching, praying for one another, prayer by Pastor and ending with another song by the PnW team. All in all it was great to come together and be united as one.Big thanks goes to the LaSalle CF for organizing this event. Here's some pics: ( there's even a video on the event on the La Salle blog)

Oh yea,Ps Gurmit also gathered the CU leaders and comms to share with them of a kind of Prayer network, probly a webpage or blog to keep us all updated abt the pryr needs of the Klang CU's.And did you notice the sign tht said 'La Salle the best school in Klang'?

Who are you? A Christian?

Hey guys!I received this mail recently and thought tht it would be great to share it with you.May you be a shining example like this man in the story!
Several years ago, a preacher from out-of-state accepted a call to a church in Houston, Texas. Some weeks after he arrived, he had an occasion to ride the bus from his home to the downtown area. When he sat down, he discovered that the driver had accidentally given him a quarter too much change. As he considered what to do, he thought to himself, 'You'd better give the quarter back. It would be wrong to keep it.' Then he thought, 'Oh, forget it, it's only a quarter. Who would worry about this little amount? Anyway, the bus company gets too much fare; they will never miss it. Accept it as a 'gift from God' and keep quiet.'
When his stop came, he paused momentarily at the door, and then he handed the quarter to the driver and said, 'Here, you gave me too much change.'
The driver, with a smile, replied, 'Aren't you the new preacher in town?''Yes' he replied.'Well, I have been thinking a lot lately about going somewhere to worship. I just wanted to see what you would do if I gave you too much change. I'll see you at church on Sunday.'
When the preacher stepped off of the bus, he literally grabbed the nearest light pole, held on, and said, 'Oh God, I almost sold your Son for a quarter!'
Our lives are the only Bible some people will ever read. This is a really scary example of how much people watch us as Christians, and will put us to the test!
Always be on guard -- and remember -- You carry the name of Christ on your shoulders when you call yourself 'Christian'.
Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.
I'm glad a friend forwarded this to me as a reminder. So, I choose to forward it to you - my friend. God bless you; I hope you are having a wonderful day!If you don't pass this on to anybody, nothing bad will happen; but, if you do, you will have ministered to someone.
The Will of God will never take you to where the Grace of God will not PROTECT you...Stay FAITHFUL and Be GRATEFUL!
God Bless.

What would YOU do?

Prayer meetings are always good and fun!yea, hard to believe bt its true:)Just come n hear all the laughter we hv...haha

bt most of all,we learn something everytime we come together....

So today Alex was sharing about an experience tht he had in his youth camp recently,
He started of by saying tht actually he didnt want to go for it cos he was tired and all, just finish exams...but at last he wentla, thts hw I hv sumting to share to day...:)
There was this activity in his camp.Each person had to pick a card.Each card had a different period of time;1 hour,1 day,1 week,1 month etc...And there was a question;
What if Jesus were to come back in tht period of time?
Alex, very luckily,gt the '1 hour' card.Haha,So what was he's response?Well,he said he became very emo....yup,i guess most of us would most prob do tht...Stop n stare.
After he shared,we were,well..emo?haha.And quite surprisingly,we all started sharing abt our different 'End of the world' experiences too...
But we came to a conclusion,in tht we should not focus too much on whats gonna happen, cos its something that we would not knw...bt we should focus more on what we as Christians should do nw...with the time has been given by God:)

I wanna end this with this verse.Dont be worried when you read it,bt learn from it and act upon it!
'So when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking him, “Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?”
He replied, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”Acts 1:6-8

So prayer meetings aren't just about prayer, its about fellowship and learning from one another;)
Join prayer meeting!

Pressure....

MY FRIENDS PRESSURE ME TO SMOKE

A guy is caught between his friends and a smart decision.

A couple of friends started smoking and constantly invite me to join them. I don’t want to, but I’m afraid to say no. What should I do?
You’re smart for not wanting to smoke. After all, what your buddies may think is an OK activity can end up getting pretty gross: wheezing lungs, yellow teeth, ash-tray breath—a life cut short. The truth is, smoking and healthy lungs don’t mix. Prolonged tobacco use can cause a whole host of life-threatening diseases. That is true of both smoking tobacco and chewing tobacco.
The problem is, your friends are stuck in the moment, which leaves you with some hard questions:
What’s the No. 1 thing keeping me from facing my friends and telling them that I don’t want to smoke?
Would I rather confront the guys and chance losing our friendship or give in and do what I know is wrong?
Do I want growth or guilt? (I’ll probably always wish I had stood strong for what I believe.)

God’s Word can give you the strength and encouragement you need to face your friends. Proverbs 13:20 says, “He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.”

It’s a tough step, but you know what you’ve got to do: Speak up and be true to yourself and God. You may face some weirdness from the guys—like put-downs or a strain on your friendships. Yet I’ve discovered that most people respect those who show backbone and stand confidently for what they believe. What’s more, your courage may be just the thing your buddies need right now. Your actions today may steer them away from even dumber risks in the future.

The Bible and the Basket of Arang Batu

Coals = Arang Batu
The story is told of an old man who lived on a farm in the mountains of eastern Kentucky with his young grandson. Each morning, Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading from his old worn-out Bible. His grandson who wanted to be just like him tried to imitate him in any way he could.
One day the grandson asked, "Papa, I try to read the Bible just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand I forget as soon as I close the book.

What good does reading the Bible do?"

The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and said, "Take this coal basket down to the river and bring back a basket of water." The boy did as he was told, even though all the water leaked out before he could get back to the house.The grandfather laughed and said, "You will have to move a little faster next time," and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again.This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home. Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was "impossible to carry water in a basket," and he went to get a bucket instead. The old man said, "I don't want a bucket of water;
I want a basketof water. You can do this. You're just not trying hard enough," and he went out the door to watch the boy try again. At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water would leak out before he got far at all. The boy scooped the water and ran hard, but when he reached his grandfather thebasket was again empty.Out of breath, he said, "See Papa, it's useless!""So you think it is useless?"
The old man said, "Look at the basket." The boy looked at the basket and for the first time he realized that the basket looked different. Instead of a dirty old coal basket, it was clean. "Son, that's what happens when you read the Bible.
You might not understand or remember everything, but when you read it, it will change you from the inside out.

Share the GOOD news!!!

Interserve is a network of Christians from all over the world who, using their professional skills, work together to serve people of Asia and the Arab world - getting alongside them in tackling material, physical, mental and spiritual needs.

On the 25th of April 2008, we had the privillege to hear from a missionary frm Pakistan.
Often, when we hear about ppl in the mission field,we usually think tht tht person actually goes around the country preaching in churches or in some unknown part of the world and normally declares him or herself as a missionary if anybody ask...

But this lady tht came for our CU mtg recently shares the same purpose but,
in a different way.
In places like Pakistan and parts of the world where the gospel is not being allowed to be preached, ppl like this lady come in as social helpers and share the msg of hope as well.

Having lived and worked in Pakistan for 17 years, she shared that being Christlike is one of the most important things esp cos Pakistan is a Muslim country where you could be put into jail just for sharing abt Christianity.
Just by showing God's love, ppl cant help but start asking about her faith. And this becomes an opportunity to share about Jesus.
Prayer also, which many of us take forgranted is the most powerful weapon to reach out to ppl cos ppl are constantly in need of something and thts one of the best ways tht we can share with others about God's love.

After hearing what she shared I thought abt how we in Malaysia are so fortunate to be able to worship God freely, whatmore in schools where we are allowed to hv CU mtgs every Friday.Yet there are still many Christians who do not come or invite their friends to come. Not to kutuk anyone....but hey, shouldn't we be more supportive of the place where God has placed to reach out to our friends and classmates who hv nvr heard of him?=)

So,just wanna challenge u guys out there,to be the salt n the light of ur schs, wherever God has placed u,be a testimony of Christ.

And ya,keep this in prayer too:
1) The church of Pakistan n Afghanistan
2) For yourselves, tht God would use you in reaching out to others.

"Its OK,I'm Forgiven!"

Have you asked this question before?
My friend is saved, but he doesn't act like it. He lives a life full of sin. He even admits it, but says, "It's OK, Christ forgives me!" It seems like he's using God's grace as an excuse to do whatever he wants. What's the correct way to view God's grace?
There's an old saying: "To err is human, to forgive divine." That's true. We all sin and we all need to be forgiven, and the Bible says, "While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8, NIV). He loves us so much that he sacrificed his life to forgive us for our sins, even those that we repeat again and again.
But it's so easy to take advantage of God's love. One smart-aleck once said:
"I love to sin, God loves to forgive. What a wonderful arrangement."
In Romans, Paul confronts such thinking: "Should we sin because we are not ruled by law but by God's grace? Not at all! Don't you know that when you give yourselves to obey someone you become that person's slave? You can be slaves of sin. Then you will die. Or you can be slaves who obey God. Then you will live a godly life" (6:15-16, NIRV).
It sounds like your friend is becoming enslaved to sin and doesn't even want freedom. That's a problem. It sounds like he doesn't want to follow and obey Jesus, which calls into question whether he can truly be called a Christian. Putting it a bit more pointedly, Augustine, a church leader in North Africa around A.D. 400, said, "It is human to err; it is devilish to remain willfully in error."
It's a serious problem when people take advantage of God's mercy and continue in their sin, never repenting or even trying to turn their behavior in God's direction. In fact, knowing your behavior is wrong and continually opting for wrong over right is choosing to turn your back on God. And that's a dangerous place to remain in. I'd recommend you gently find a way to help your friend see the truth of Romans 6:15-16. He has a choice of what's at the center of his life: sin or Christ. Right now, he's making the wrong choice.

The 6 W's of PrAYeR!

Last week,28th Apr 08,we had our second speaker of the year...by the name of Kiew Sieh Jin frm Scripture Union...And this is what he shared...

WHAT?WHEN?WHY?WHERE?WHO?HOW? of prayer...

hmm...i only hv pics for WHERE,WHY,WHEN and HOW.....

Ok,so here's what happened,Sieh Jin divided us into groups and started to ask us to write our opinions on these few questions on prayer....It was really a hands down thing cos it got us thinkin rather than just listen and who knw its ...goes in one ear and out the other...Haha,yeap,so we did learn alot and dont think that prayer is just talkin to God...
Infact Sieh Jin noted tht it is talkin WITH God.......cos its a 2 way thing. We talk and God talk oso.

Besides that I also learned one very important thing...
Sieh Jin said tht since prayer is like talking,
And we all love God dont we?.....
So if we love him,we would sure wanna spend time with him and talk just as how we would to to our loved ones rite?
So.....we should also pray each day and instead of taking it as a burden, take it as a blessing tht we can actually come to him anytime, anywhere, anyhow, talkin about anything and anybody can do that.

"Ask and it will be given to you,Seek and you will find;Knock and the door will be opened"Matthew 7:7

But do remember this...

"Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness...and all these things will be given to you as well" Matthew 6:33

So,PRAY!

Don't feel close to God?

Hey people. I've recently bumped into a really good Christian website, and I found an article that really hit me. I admit, this does happen to me, a lot. It has been hard being discipline in my daily devotionals and I've been backsliding here and there. I'm sure some of you are also facing this and I hope this article will help you out. Give it a go. I'm giving it a go. =]

My devotion time used to be really intense, but now it has simmered down. At times, I feel like God isn't there. And even when I do have my time with God, there doesn't seem to be any passion in it. What should I do?

A. I want to encourage you to try something I call the 90-Day Experiment. Challenge yourself to spend five minutes a day with God for the next 90 days. When you complete the experiment, I can't promise you'll burn with passion for God every morning. But I do think such a disciplined approach will help you recover a devotion time you won't want to miss.

Exactly what you do during those five minutes is up to you, but here are some ideas to help get you started. A good youth-oriented devotional book may help you break out of some boring patterns. Ask your youth worker for one of the many excellent devotionals out there. Or maybe you are a person who does better if you journal and write out your prayers to God. That's fine. You might try singing Christian praise songs as part of your daily routine. You could even read through the New Testament. Yeah, it might sound overwhelming, but it only takes two or three chapters a day to do it in 90 days.

What I'm saying is this: If what you're doing now isn't working, try something different. Mix things up. Be creative. Sure, it will still require incredible discipline to accomplish the 90-Day Experiment no matter what you do. But breaking out of your old devotional rut will give you the motivation you need to get going again. And I guarantee it will be worth it.

Nineteen years ago, I was feeling just like you, so I challenged myself to the 90-Day Experiment. I've never stopped, and I've never regretted it. Of course, I've missed some days along the way, but that time with God has made a huge difference in my relationship with him.

I've read it takes three weeks to form a habit, and three more weeks to solidify that habit as a lifelong practice. If you successfully complete the 90-Day Experiment, chances are you'll develop a routine with lasting significance. Go for it. Take the challenge. You'll be glad you did.

EASTER PARTAY!!!!!

Hey!yes...this year we are celebrating Easter abit late...2 weeks late in fact due to the Good Fri holidays and the many events happening on the 28th...but we never the less will still celebrate this very amazing event...

But,if you're thinkin Easter is all about...

Little cute bunnies and chicks ....or

Colourful eggs ...or...

The combination of both...Bunnies collecting easter eggs?

Then you'd be dissapointed...cos Easter is SOOOOOO much more than tht!
Christians celebrate Easter to remind ourselves of the resurrection of Christ. You see most people who are dead dont come alive do they?Haha, but this man(yes,Jesus is a human being,he's 100% human and 100% God,check out John 1:1 & 14) did just that!3 days after he was crucified on the cross and buried in a tomb...he was risen from the dead!
